When Windows installs the update to the Operating System it cannot overwrite files that are in use while Windows is running.
To overcome this issue Windows creates a RAM drive in the computers memory to store the install files.
The computer will then reboot so Windows can write the updated files to the computer before they are used by Windows.
However, over time the computer designates bad sectors to the RAM which reduces the amount of space available and causes the error “There isn't enough memory available to create a ramdisk device” Error Code 0xc0000017.
I tried to run the Windows 10 Upgrade Assistant to down load and install the latest release of Windows 10 and ran into:
“There isn't enough memory available to create a ramdisk device”
Error Code 0xc0000017
As this has happened to me before with a different computer and an earlier update I have decided to post the only thing that worked for me.
Please bear in mind that the other fixes that you can find on Google have worked for the authors and other’s so don’t dismiss them completely.
